DALLAS - s4story -- Dr. Froswa' Booker—multi-award-winning author, professor, scholar, and leading voice on Black women in philanthropy—has earned national recognition for her latest book, Front Porch Wisdom: Navigating Leadership Pressures and Barriers as a Woman of Color. The book has been named the 2026 Outstanding Book of the Year by the Illumination Book Awards.
The Illumination Christian Book Awards honor the best new titles written from a Christian perspective, recognizing excellence across 25 categories. According to the awards program, "Out of all 2026 Illumination entries, these Outstanding Books of the Year rose to the top for their inspiring messages and excellence, earning Gold Medals."
This latest accolade follows another major honor: in November 2025, Front Porch Wisdom won the 2025 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) Top Shelf Book Cover Award in the nonfiction category, with judges praising its beautifully balanced typography and fresh, strong color palette.

"I am so blown away by this award," Booker said. "When I wrote Front Porch Wisdom, I was writing a love letter to women of color in leadership—hoping my journey would encourage and support them through the realities of the workplace. To see the book received this way is something I could never have imagined."
Published by InterVarsity Press (IVP), the book blends faith, research, and lived experience to address the unique pressures women of color face in leadership. Nilwona Nowlin, IVP's associate trade editor, described the book as both "a balm" and a "pocket-sized leadership coach," noting that it reminds women of color that "God sees us and that we are precious in God's sight."
Released on June 17, 2025, Front Porch Wisdom became an immediate Amazon bestseller across multiple categories. More than a leadership guide, the book fills a critical gap at the intersection of faith and professional life, offering practical insights for nonprofit, corporate, and community leaders.
