AUSTIN, Texas - s4story -- AUSTIN, Texas - GingerControl, an AI infrastructure company for global trade compliance, today announced a $2.1 million pre-seed round led by London-based Backed VC. The capital will scale engineering and accelerate adoption of the company's AI compliance suite among importers, customs brokers, and trade attorneys.

Cofounders Chen Cui and Sean met as kids in West Auckland, New Zealand. Cui grew up in his family's import/export business before moving into biotech and business intelligence software. GingerControl emerged from roughly 200 conversations across the supply chain, where three patterns surfaced repeatedly: classification was consuming 20 to 40 percent of a compliance team's week, tariff stacking had outgrown spreadsheets, and senior compliance expertise was retiring faster than software could capture it.

"The legal reasoning that brokers and trade attorneys charge hundreds of dollars an hour for has never been encoded into software," said Cui, cofounder and CEO. "AI is finally good enough to do that encoding, and the window is open right now."
