Global Learning Charter Public School Enrollment Applications Deadline is February 27, 2026

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - s4story -- Global Learning Charter Public School (GLCPS), a tuition-free public charter school that serves 500 students in grades 5-12, is currently accepting applications for New Bedford students in grades 5 through 10 for the 2026-2027 school year with the application deadline set for February 27, 2026. An enrollment Open House is schedule for February 5th at 6 pm with a snow date of February 10th.
Applications are available on their website at www.glcps.org and are accepted through February 27, 2026. GLCPS is a public school; therefore, there is no fee to attend. Applicants are selected through a blind lottery that takes place each year in March. There are no interviews, admissions tests, or review of a student's previous school records. All students, including English language learners and special education students in New Bedford entering grades 5 through 10 are welcome to apply. Families are encouraged to start their school planning early as the best chance for a student to enter GLCPS is by applying in the 4th grade to start in the 5th grade.

GLCPS offers small class sizes, individual student support and parents or guardians are part of the team. They have a college preparatory curriculum focused on critical thinking skills and a robust afterschool enrichment and academic program. The school features a state of the art STEAM Education Center with an innovation lab, science labs, music rooms and art rooms with a kiln.
"Our charter school is tuition free for students in grades 5-12 who reside in New Bedford," said Stephen Furtado Jr., Executive Director of GLCPS. "We have built an amazing community of lifelong learners and we are proud of the accomplishments of our graduates. We invite everyone to learn more about our school and our impact on our community."

In order to generate a culture of personalization, the school setting and class sizes are deliberately small. GLCPS capitalizes on the exceptional resources of the region (for example, marine sciences), and ties these resources to their curriculum and instruction.
