Golden Limousine International Launches Motorcoach Apprenticeship Program to Train Michigan's Next Generation of Drivers
S For Story/10677833
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - s4story -- Golden Limousine International has officially launched a Department of Labor-approved Motorcoach Apprenticeship Program, designed to train and certify Michigan's next generation of professional motorcoach operators. The program provides CDL holders with a clear, competency-based pathway to become fully certified motorcoach operators, advancing their careers through hands-on learning and mentorship.
Unlike traditional time-based apprenticeships, Golden's program focuses on skill mastery and progression. Apprentices advance only after demonstrating proficiency, ensuring they are fully prepared to meet the high standards of safety, professionalism, and client care expected of a certified motorcoach operator at Golden Limousine International or elsewhere.
"Motorcoach operators are skilled tradespeople, and as a luxury brand, we must have a training culture. This apprenticeship creates that standard," said Golden HR Specialist Peter Jonik.
Hands-On Training and Mentorship
Developed to address a growing shortage of qualified motorcoach drivers in Michigan, the program combines classroom instruction, supervised drive time, and job shadowing:
Paid Training and Career Growth
Apprentices start at $15.25 per hour plus gratuity, progressing to $21 per hour as competencies are met, and ultimately $23 per hour for master-level operators. Annual earnings for graduates range from $75,000 to $100,000. While Golden Limousine International's goal is to foster long-term career growth and retention, there is no employment contract requirement, giving graduates the flexibility to explore opportunities freely after completing the Program.
Community Leadership and Workforce Development
Golden Limousine International has been recognized as a "Champion of Apprenticeship" by Michigan Works for its leadership in workforce development. The company participated in the recent "Race to Talent" Apprenticeship Breakfast at Washtenaw Community College to share its innovative approach to workforce development.
