GOOD MEN– Official Selection at Palm Springs International Film Festival
S For Story/10644223
Filmmaker Bobby Roth embarks on a thought-provoking journey seeking candid answers to questions on masculinity, femininity, and whether we have the power to change.
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - s4story -- GOOD MEN, a documentary film by Director Bobby Roth, has been officially selected to compete at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, taking place January 2-13, 2025. This prestigious inclusion highlights the film's wide range and ability to reach diverse audiences.
"Men, and 'why we are as we are,' has been my focus as a filmmaker for fifty years, THE BOSS' SON, HEARTBREAKERS, THE MAN INSIDE, JACK THE DOG, MANHOOD, BERKELEY, and PEARL are all pictures exploring the ethos of men. I grew up in the seventies and was active in both the 'anti-war' and 'free love' movements before I really understood their depth and consequences. I am trying to put this all into a social context for future generations, as well as for my own understanding," said Roth.

With more than four decades of Hollywood film experience few Directors have accumulated such an iconic list of directing credits including: Miami Vice, Beverly Hills, Prison Break, Revenge, Grey's Anatomy, Marvels Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., Scorpion, Hawaii 5-0, Player and many more. Roth reached out to his friends and colleagues, including entertainment notables, leaders in education, medical professionals, Rabbis and even a lawyer. His deep dive into a multifaceted topic also draws touching testimony from differing gender perspectives.
Sharing sometimes very personal stories include, last year's Emmy winner for 'Barry,' Henry Winkler, Tom Morello, lead guitarist of the mega-rock band 'Rage Against the Machine, Robert Patrick from the 'Terminator' films and TV series 'Scorpion,' Ming-Na Wen, the voice of 'Mulan' and star of the TV show, 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and also Clark Gregg from 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and 'Captain America,' as well as the former head of the Motion Picture Academy, Hawk Koch and Oscar winning director Taylor Hackford who was also President of the Directors Guild of America. They provide rich, sometimes painful, and candid answers that suggest that to become a good man, one must become a compassionate and reflective person first.
