Governor Abbott Commemorates Fallen Texas Heroes At Memorial Day Ceremony

~ Governor Greg Abbott led a Memorial Day ceremony at the Texas Capitol today to honor and remember the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who lost their lives in service to our nation in the past year. The ceremony was attended by Speaker Dustin Burrows, Senate Veteran Affairs Committee Chairman Kelly Hancock, House Homeland Security, Public Safety, & Veterans' Affairs Committee Chairman Cole Hefner, Representative Philip Cortez, and other legislators and families of fallen service members.

During the ceremony, Governor Abbott paid tribute to the sacrifices made by these service members. "In this Capitol, we remember and honor those who gave their lives for our country," he stated. He also recognized Texas service members who were killed while serving since the last Memorial Day ceremony in the chamber.

The Governor emphasized that the legacy of these extraordinary men and women will continue to live on because they fought and died for a cause greater than themselves. He expressed gratitude for their dedication, remembered their sacrifice, and celebrated their lives.

Among those honored by Governor Abbott were Staff Sergeant Felix Berrios of the United States Army, Major Tobin Lewis of the United States Marine Corps, and Navy Seal Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Nathan Ingram of the United States Navy Seals. The names of these fallen heroes were read aloud as a tribute to their bravery and service.

The Memorial Day ceremony served as a reminder to all present of the ultimate sacrifice made by these service members in defense of our nation's freedom. It was a solemn yet powerful event that highlighted the importance of honoring those who have given everything for our country.
