Henry Mitchell signs one-book deal with Creative James Media
S For Story/10542936
PASADENA, Md. - s4story -- Henry Mitchell has signed a one-book deal for his 6th fantasy novel. Among the Fallen releases February 2023 and is his latest Magical Realism tale featuring timely commentary on current events.
Innkeeper Abigail Trammell is content with her life in Drovers Gap, a typical Southern Appalachian tourist village until otherworldly visitors begin to trickle into town intending to stay awhile, disrupting the carefully casual lives of the eccentric locals.
Over the course of two cycles of seasons, amusement turns to irritation and irritation evolves into terror as the town divides into factions intent on seizing an uncertain future or reclaiming a fictitious past.
Passions are aroused on all sides of the deepening conflict, and violence ensues. Sheriff Omar Longshadow has his hands full when a raging forest fire threatens to raze the entire community, and it is left to the unlikeliest hero in town to attempt to save Drovers Gap from annihilation.

Among the Fallen will be available in February 2023 in ebook and paperback online wherever books are sold.
Henry Mitchell reads and writes in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. He is the author of six novels, The Summer boy, Between Times, Laurel Falls, Slick Rock Creek, The Winged Child, and Among the Fallen, and two collections of short stories, Dark on the Mountain and Early Dark. His family has lived in the Carolina upcountry for eight generations. He began writing fiction at age 70 after a fifty-year career as a painter and sculptor, when he was diagnosed with macular degeneration. "I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing something I could get better at," he says, "and not leave a record of my slow decline." Mitchell lives with his Main Muse and assorted other-than-human neighbors in the village of Saluda, Pop. (human), 720.
