Early literacy program that educators know as mySoundTown rebrands as Soundkins, signaling expanded curriculum for Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms nationwide.
MENLO PARK, Calif. - s4story -- Hoogalit Inc. today announced that the early literacy program that educators know as mySoundTown is now Soundkins. The rebrand reflects the company's expanded vision for foundational literacy instruction while maintaining the research-backed, classroom-tested approach educators have relied on since 2021.
Soundkins is a web-based phonemic awareness program designed for Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms, with particular effectiveness for multilingual learners. The program delivers 5-minute, zero-prep lessons featuring engaging characters that help young children build critical sound and letter recognition skills.
"Teachers told us they loved the program—and they were ready for more," said Aparna Ramanathan, Founder and CEO of Hoogalit Inc. "Soundkins gives us room to grow beyond letter sounds into vocabulary, blending, and other foundational skills. "My students seem to have a better collective understanding of letter sounds compared to previous years," reported one Pre-K teacher in Ohio. Barbara LaBree, a Kindergarten teacher at Fallon Memorial School in Pawtucket, RI, shared similar enthusiasm: "My class loved 'meeting' the characters and really connected with them and their stories. They literally cheered each day when I said, 'let's go to Sound Town.'"
The program has proven especially effective for multilingual learners and students requiring additional support. A Kindergarten team at J.R. Lowell Elementary wrote to their principal: "The movements paired with vocabulary are highly effective for all students, and we've noticed particular benefits for our English learners and exceptional student population. The students really look forward to these videos—they find the close-ups of articulation helpful, and the predictable, engaging format keeps everyone participating, regardless of language background."

"It's user-friendly, visually appealing, and educational—highly recommend for any parent or teacher looking to give young learners a strong start in reading," said Sydney Francis, TK Teacher at J.X. Wilson Elementary School in California.
