A Horror-filled Land Lurks in the Swiss Alps in WHITELAND by Rosie Cranie-Higgs
S For Story/10443771
Blending Scandinavian folklore with dark fairy tales, Kira must navigate an otherworldly forest where nothing is as it seems in this terrifying psychological horror debut.
LIVONIA, Mich. - s4story -- Rosie Cranie-Higgs's debut novel begins with a trip to the forest…and then worlds collide.
"My fascination with changelings snowballed into a love of creepy European folklore. Combined with an extremely snowy winter in Switzerland, the artwork of Kay Nielsen, and a collection of tales called East of the Sun and West of the Moon, my inspiration for this series evolved into a dark, wintry, supernatural adventure," says Rosie Cranie-Higgs.
During a family vacation at a Swiss mountain village, Kira's holiday plans go awry when her sister Romy disappears in the nearby forest. When she returns, she's different. Seeking answers to her sister's abnormal behavior, Kira begins to pry. With the help of Callum, a sarcastic Scotsman, Kira stumbles upon the folkloric world of Whiteland. If Kira runs away, she'll be safe. If she doesn't, her family might not survive. In the end, there's no mercy in revenge.
