Indianapolis Public Relations Society Names Bob Schultz Its 2026 Legend Award Recipient

INDIANAPOLIS - s4story -- The Indianapolis Public Relations Society (IPRS) will honor Bob Schultz, a public relations professional and educator whose work has had a positive impact on the community for more than 30 years, as the 2026 recipient of the Indy PR Legend Award. The presentation will take place on April 15, at a noon luncheon at the University Club, 970 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, 46202.
Schultz is a professor and lecturer at Butler University's College of Communication and director of the Butler Institute for Sports and Entertainment. He founded Schultz Strategies in 2022,specializing in marketing and communications for such clients as the InterContinental Indianapolis hotel, Indianapolis Colts, Downtown Indy Alliance, Canal Pointe, Gridiron Foundation, Heartland Film Festival, and Valve & Meter Performance Marketing.
Previously, he held numerous high-profile positions including Executive Vice President and Interim President of Downtown Indy, Inc., Vice President of Borshoff Strategic Marketing, and Director of Communications for Visit Indy.

Schultz has a B.A. in Communications from Purdue University and a M.A. in Pastoral Theology from Loyola University. He has served as president of both the Hoosier Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and IPRS. He was accepted into the PRSA College of Fellows, and is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Training Program.
"We're honoring Bob for his contributions to the public relations profession in our industry, as well as in the larger Indy community," said IPRS President Jen Schmits Thomas. "He's an excellent example of a true PR pro, and now he's now educating and mentoring the next generation of communicators."
The Indy PR Legend Award was first presented in 2008 to James R. Hetherington, a long-timeIndianapolis journalist and public relations executive. Subsequent honorees have been Robert L. Gildea, Myra Borshoff, Carl Henn, Ann Rein, Gretchen Wolfram, Donna Mikels Shea, Bob Dittmer, Lou Gerig, Bill Benner, David Sease, Billie Fouts and Julie Vincent. The Indianapolis Public Relations Society, formed in 1949, is a limited membership organization comprised of senior-level public relations professionals.
