Indie Film Marries Arthouse Aesthetics to Fantasy While Tackling Themes of Humanity and the Ecology

Director Richard Bailey delivers a unique, resonating vision in the new BayView Entertainment film release, 'Howler'
POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. - s4story -- BayView Entertainment, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of Howler, the latest feature film from writer-director Richard Bailey, dropping on finer streaming video platforms starting December 30.
For over a decade, Bailey has been making films with social and ecological themes. His latest brings a lyrical, ethereal approach that leans into fantasy, and even borderline horror at times, all while maintaining its indie, arthouse aesthetic.
The story begins on a mysterious note: On the eve of receiving a major award, a poet named Leni receives an apocalyptic vision. Convinced her award is a platform to warn the world about what lies ahead, her family and friends worry about her reputation, and their own well-being… especially when a party in Leni's honor lights up with wild ideas and unusual images.

The film arrives on streaming this week, already having garnered some great reviews. Lisa Laman of The Dallas Observer says Howler captures Texas' surreal beauty," while Bobby LePire of Film Threat exclaims it is "eerie, compelling, and beautifully filmed… the cast ably helps maintain the odd tone of mystery, drama, and apocalypse in every scene."
"I grew up on a small farm in Texas, fascinated by folk sermons, revivals, and their rituals," says Bailey. "There's a sense that trees, wind, and water share messages that can test, enlighten, or make you disappear. A spooky, washed-in-blood quality about the language. I wanted Howler to possess this same language and mystery."
"Like his BayView release, The Dark Sisters and other films in his filmography, Richard always impresses us with his connection to the land and what that means to human existence," says BayView Entertainment Inc. President, Peter Castro. "His ability to make viewers think with their hearts and souls elevate his movies, and we're grateful to have them in our library."
