Jamaican Health Policy Strategist Kavelle Christie Named to Caribbean-American Power 100 and Honored at POSH ICON Woman Awards
S For Story/10664893
From Medicaid reform to Caribbean advocacy, Christie's leadership continues to shape U.S. health systems with equity, dignity, and voice at the center.
WASHINGTON - s4story -- Jamaican-born health policy strategist Kavelle Christie has been named to the 2025 Caribbean-American Power 100, a prestigious list published by New York Carib News that recognizes the most influential Caribbean voices shaping national progress across the United States.
Christie, who is the Founder and CEO of Orion 360 Health, LLC, was selected for her work advancing equity in healthcare policy, expanding Medicaid access, and helping shape regulatory systems that better serve underserved communities, including Caribbean immigrants, Black women, and families in the U.S. South.
This latest recognition follows her recent honour as a 2025 Caribbean POSH ICON Woman Awardee for Health Advocacy, presented at the Caribbean POSH ICON Woman Awards during Caribbean POSH Weekend, held June 27 to 29 in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Christie was celebrated alongside trailblazers including actress and director Aisha Hinds (of Grenadian heritage) and Cedella Marley, while past ICON Woman honoree Yvette Noel-Schure, Beyoncé's longtime publicist who was born in Grenada, was also recognized.

"As Caribbean people living abroad, we give so much. Sometimes we work multiple jobs and support families here and back home. Yet when it comes to healthcare in the U.S., we're treated like afterthoughts," Christie said.
She continued, "Our stories are rarely in the rooms where decisions about health and dignity are made, and almost never reflected in the policies and regulations that shape our lives. Imagine what's possible when our voices shape the systems we move through. I believe healthcare should reflect the brilliance, resilience, and worth of the people it's meant to serve, and that includes us."
A former journalist turned strategist, Christie has spent over a decade working at the intersection of government, equity, and healthcare. She advises national nonprofits, policy coalitions, and advocacy networks across the country. Through Orion 360 Health, LLC, she leads work at the intersection of health policy, regulatory affairs strategy, and strategic communications.
Her commentary has appeared in leading international outlets including Forbes, Newsweek, the BBC, Nasdaq, MSN, and Business Insider. She was also named a Marquis Who's Who honoree, a biographical registry that has recognized U.S. presidents, Nobel Prize winners, and global changemakers for over 125 years.

"I'm grateful for spaces like Carib News and Caribbean POSH that don't shy away from honoring our hard-won victories," Christie added. "The brilliance of Caribbean women is often overlooked, but never outmatched. These recognitions are a reminder to us—and to the world—that our impact is not only valid but vital."
At the 2025 Caribbean POSH ICON Woman Awards, two other Jamaicans were also honoured: Dr. Onika Campbell-Rowe, who received the Emerging Caribbean Leader Award, and Queen Simone Maghanza, who was presented with the Empowerment in Action Award.
Founded by U.S. Virgin Islands entrepreneur Janette Brin, Caribbean POSH Weekend is one of the region's most celebrated platforms for highlighting the brilliance, leadership, and cultural power of Caribbean women across industries, from media and entrepreneurship to public service and global influence.
