NAPLES, Fla. - s4story -- The Jewish Federation of Greater Naples invites the public to a free community program to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day and honor the victims of genocide on Sunday, April 27.
The Day of Remembrance (Yom HaShoah in Hebrew) service is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Temple Shalom, 4630 Pine Ridge Road, Naples. The "For a Better Future" event includes a candle-lighting ceremony to honor the memories of the six million Jews killed by Nazis before and during World War II, along with remarks from local clergy, Holocaust survivors and their descendants.
In addition to the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples, event sponsors include the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center, Temple Shalom, Beth Tikvah, GenShoah SWFL, Naples Jewish Congregation, Chabad of Naples and Jewish Congregation of Marco Island.
"As we recognize 80 years since the end of World War II, the imperative to remember the millions who died in the name of hate – to never forget – couldn't be timelier," said Nammie Ichilov, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples.
