TUCSON, Ariz. - s4story -- THE MASONIC FAMILY

Did you know that the Mason Lodge where John Wayne took his Mason vows is in the heart of Tucson? John was also a member of the Order of DeMolay. That Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor was a Rainbow Girl here. Many of our streets, schools, and parks are named after masons, like Epes-Randolph Park, Drachman Drive, The Goldwater Foundation, and Peter Howell School. The list goes on and on. 15 Presidents were Masons, including George Washington, as were hundreds of thousands of others who have changed our country. Famous Rainbow and Job's Daughters include Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt, Shirley Temple, Mary Kay, and Laura Engles. They are all part of what we call the Masonic Family.

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternal organization. Its purpose is to make good men better. It promotes truth, charitable relief, giving away 2 million dollars every day, and genuine friendship among its 6,000,000 members worldwide. But we are much more than that and serve the community through organizations tailored to your needs. Most people have heard of the Shriners International because of their worldwide network of Shriners Hospitals for Children. But there are so many more appendant bodies.

The Order of Eastern Star is all about charity, fraternity, education, and science. With over 500,000 members globally, the OES is the largest fraternal organization in which both men and women can belong. Job's Daughters and the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls prepare young ladies for the responsibilities of adulthood, encouraging service and higher ideals in life while promoting teamwork and effective interpersonal communication for young women aged 12 to 21.

The International Order of DeMolay is the premier youth leadership organization that strives to shape young men into leaders of character who hold themselves to a higher standard. By epitomizing timeless values and accepting the challenge of leadership—both in character and in action— the young men of DeMolay transform themselves into citizens of the highest caliber.

The Masonic Family is devoted to high ideals and admirable benevolence. Community service and charitable work are, in fact, the organization's principal activities. But it all begins with what is called "The Blue Lodge." Come to Marion McDaniels Lodge #56, also known as the Duke's Lodge, located at 3959 E. Mabel Street, Tucson, 85712, on November 19, 2025, at 6:00 P.M., hosted by Epes-Randolph Lodge #32. There, you can see memorabilia of Brother John Wayne and meet representatives from many of the Masonic Family Organizations. Light refreshments will be served.
