MSAD 2027: Purple Tie-Dye Announced as Official Color
S For Story/10704595
A shared color for a worldwide Moebius syndrome awareness effort throughout January 2027.
REMINGTON, Va. - s4story -- Many Faces of Moebius Syndrome (MFOMS), a Virginia nonprofit corporation and founder of Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day, announces Purple Tie-Dye as the official color for Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day 2027 and its January Moebius Syndrome Awareness Month campaign.
Why Purple Tie-Dye?
Purple has been used as a color of awareness for decades and today is associated with numerous causes, including Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, lupus and pancreatic cancer.
Purple has also been part of Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day for many years. MFOMS did not want to abandon that history, but with so many awareness campaigns using the same color, purple by itself does not always immediately identify the cause it represents.
So rather than replace purple, MFOMS decided to build on it.
For 2027, Purple Tie-Dye keeps the familiar color associated with Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day while giving MSAD and the January awareness campaign a more distinctive visual identity.

"We didn't want to replace purple because it has been part of Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day for many years," said Tim Smith, founder and President of Many Faces of Moebius Syndrome. "Purple Tie-Dye lets us keep that history while giving MSAD a look of its own."
An Invitation to the Worldwide Moebius Syndrome Community
MFOMS invites other Moebius syndrome organizations, groups, families and individuals around the world to incorporate Purple Tie-Dye into their own 2027 awareness efforts as a sign of solidarity across the Moebius syndrome community.
"Every organization has its own identity and its own way of serving the Moebius Syndrome community, and we respect that," Smith said. "We're simply inviting everyone to share one color this year as a sign of solidarity. We don't all have to do the same thing to stand together."
January 24: Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day
Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day was founded by Many Faces of Moebius Syndrome in 2011 and is observed annually on January 24, the birthday of Professor Paul Julius Möbius, the physician whose work led to the condition bearing his name.
