Mystery Enterprises Introduces a New Way to Play Murder Mystery Games Without a Host
S For Story/10700632
EL SOBRANTE, Calif. - s4story -- Mystery Enterprises™ today announced the continued development and availability of its Automated Murder Mystery Game™ format, a fully automated approach to interactive entertainment that allows groups to play murder mystery games without requiring one participant to serve as the host. Introduced commercially in February 2026, the format uses software to manage functions traditionally handled by a human host, including story progression, pacing, clue delivery, character information, voting, and final resolution.
Unlike traditional murder mystery games, where one participant may be responsible for explaining rules, managing clues, controlling the pace, or handling the solution, an Automated Murder Mystery Game is designed so the organizer can participate in the mystery alongside everyone else. The experience combines cinematic story content on a shared main screen with private character information, clues, and voting delivered to each participant's personal device. This two-screen structure separates information intended for the entire group from information intended for individual players while allowing the software to manage the progression of the experience.

The format is defined by a combination of functional characteristics established in the Mystery Enterprises 2026 Global Standards for the Automated Murder Mystery Game Format. These include professional video narration, automated invitations and setup, spoiler proof character assignment, digital delivery of game information, timed clue and story delivery, automated prompts and rounds, private automated voting, blind participation by the organizer, and an automated How and Why reveal. Together, these features are designed to replace the operational responsibilities traditionally assigned to a human host and provide a consistent experience for every participant.
"The idea is simple. Nobody should have to give up playing just because they organized the event," said Eric Lee, Founder and President of Mystery Enterprises. "We built the format around a straightforward principle: the person who organizes the event should be able to enjoy the event too. When the technology handles the operational work, everyone can participate in the mystery."
