NAMI Collier County receives $45,000 grant from the Women's Foundation of Collier County
S For Story/10703138
NAPLES, Fla. - s4story -- NAMI Collier County is pleased to announce that it has received a $45,000 grant from the Women's Foundation of Collier County. These funds will support NAMI Collier's outreach to senior women to decrease social isolation and improve mental wellbeing.
The program will hire a new staff member responsible for community outreach to build relationships with low-income senior women in senior living communities, ensuring that they have access to NAMI Collier's comprehensive mental health programming, life skills activities and wrap-around services that ensure they can age safely and happily in place. Programming will be provided both in NAMI Collier's headquarters and in senior women's homes and communities. This will provide more individualized and more accessible support, regardless of each person's access to transportation.
"Low-income senior women face unique risks of mental health concerns and social isolation, both of which can have serious impacts on their overall well-being and even life expectancy," explains Beth Hatch, CEO of NAMI Collier County, "but they're often the least likely to reach out for mental health support. With this grant, NAMI can reach them directly to become the compass on their journey to mental well-being."
