New Adventure Tale About White Slave Turned Pirate Captain Is Based On Author's Ancestors
S For Story/10380535
Historical author Juliet Haines Moffard releases a new book about the real-life historical figure, Daniel Greaves.
BATH, Maine - s4story -- Juliet Mofford, author of several other historical novels, has published a new novel titled Captain Redlegs Greaves: A Pirate by Mistake (Trade Paper, $16.99; eBook, $6.99). The story is based on the life of an actual 17th century pirate and the ancestor of the author's husband. Mofford details his role in British history and the various Caribbean settings through painstaking research. She writes a compelling story of this brave teenager who fled his miserable life of slavery to find freedom and adventure on the high seas.
Mofford's story will resonate with both adult and young adult audiences. Readers drawn to historical novels can be reassured that the novel is drawn from historical records, and young adults will identify with the fascinating protagonist and his struggles. The book also speaks to the many West Indian immigrants and tourists who currently reside in England, Canada, and the U.S. Mofford fleshes out this elusive figure in history to present readers a complex tale of romance, adventure, and survival.
