Ida LaVerne Blackwell is married to Calvin M. Blackwell, Sr. She is the Mother of three daughters and one son who is in his Heavenly home. She is the grandmother to four grandchildren.

LaVerne Blackwell is a graduate of Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. She holds a certificate of completion in Evangelicalism and Counseling, as well as other religious certificates. LaVerne is an Ordained Deacon, teaches New Disciples classes, serves as an Usher and is President of the Silver Saints Ministry. She enjoys her role as a Servant.

During her free time she enjoys cooking, baking and entertaining family and friends. LaVerne enjoys traveling with family and friends and generally loves to laugh and make others laugh.

LaVerne retired from her position at the State of Connecticut as an Administrative Supervisor. She is currently a Conservator for several people.
