Written by Monique Norington-Joseph, I Really Don't Want To: Zoie Learns to Share is the second book in an exciting three-part series focusing on learning development skills from infant to big-kid. This book motivates children to use their imagination while building skills that foster self-confidence, good habits, exploring new ideas and encouraging early reading development.
I Really Don't Want To, tells a story of four-year old Afro-puff wearing Zoie who learns a new lesson of how to get along with her new friend Shawn. This book reinforces the important lesson of generosity, sharing, showing compassion and understanding the differences. In this fun, entertaining and unique story, Zoie discovers that being selfish isn't kind and can hurt our friends. She soon learns that kindness is the key to good relationships.
" I wrote this book because I noticed my daughter was having challenges not wanting to share with her friends. I wanted to teach her a lesson of showing compassion to others and understanding how it feels when we hurt others, and how we can be a good friend" states Monique. In addition, It was important for our daughter to see herself reflected positively in literature.
