New Online Marketplace Gives Cottage Food Vendors a Place to Be Found — Not Just a Storefront
S For Story/10693872
Butter & Sage Market has launched as the first online marketplace built exclusively for small and cottage food businesses, combining buyer discovery, vendor tools, a 7,000+ farmers market directory, and events hosting in one platform.
ROUND ROCK, Texas - s4story -- Butter & Sage Market (butterandsagemarket.com), the only online marketplace built exclusively for small and cottage food businesses, is now open to vendors across the United States.
Founded by Amy Larsen, a 25-year marketing executive turned local food advocate, the platform was born from a simple frustration: cottage food vendors were doing everything right in their kitchens and still couldn't get found online.
"Most platforms available to cottage food vendors are just storefronts — a link to send people who already know you exist," said Larsen. "There was nothing that actually brought new local buyers to them. That's the gap Butter & Sage Market was built to fill."

Unlike individual storefronts, Butter & Sage Market is a two-sided marketplace. Local shoppers browse and discover vendors by product type, location, and dietary preference — without needing a direct link. Vendors get found by neighbors who didn't know they existed yet.
The platform combines tools no other cottage food platform offers in one place: a professional branded storefront with a full design system, custom order management, local pickup and product drops, built-in email and text marketing, a cottage-compliant label maker, and listings in a 5,000+ U.S. farmers market directory that passes local search traffic directly to vendor shops.
A free plan lets vendors open a shop with no upfront cost. A flat-fee Pro plan removes the commission entirely for vendors who reach higher sales volumes — a path competitors like HotPlate don't offer.
"Our vendors are bakers, farmers, and home cooks," Larsen said. "They should be in the kitchen, not fighting with software."

Butter & Sage Market serves cottage food vendors in all 50 states and includes a complete library of state-by-state cottage food law guides. Vendors can open a free shop at butterandsagemarket.com.
