New Rochelle: Waterfront Parks open Memorial Day weekend

~ New Rochelle, NY- As Memorial Day weekend approaches, the city of New Rochelle is gearing up for the official opening of its waterfront parks. Starting on Saturday, May 24th and running through Saturday, June 28th, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the scenic parks on weekends and holidays. The parks included in this opening are Hudson Park, Joe Curtis Five Islands Park, and Davenport Park. The hours for weekend and holiday parking admittance will be from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The grand opening of these parks will include access to Hudson Beach, outdoor showers, the Hudson Park Café on the sundeck, public restrooms, and staffed parking lots. This ensures that all park visitors will have access to parking and amenities during their visit. From June 28th through Labor Day on September 1st, the waterfront parks will then be open seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Parks & Recreation Commissioner Vin Parise expressed his excitement for the official opening of these popular waterfront parks. He stated, "While all of our parks, playgrounds and nature facilities citywide are ready to go for the summer, we always look forward to Memorial Day weekend as the official opening of our popular waterfront parks." He also mentioned that there is a new playground at Hudson Park that was completed this spring with funding from an American Rescue Plan Act grant.

For those who hold a Parks Passport, parking will be free. Non-Park Passport holders can expect to pay $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents. Additionally, a brand new state-of-the-art children's playground has been added to Hudson Park for the 2025 park season.

With the official opening of these waterfront parks, residents and visitors alike can look forward to a summer filled with outdoor fun and relaxation.
