GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 4, 2025 ~ Opill® and the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) have joined forces to launch a new initiative aimed at expanding reproductive health education and access to birth control resources. The partnership, in collaboration with the Black Women's Health Imperative (BWHI), is called "Level The Court" and will focus on educating Black women about their reproductive options and promoting health equity for this underserved population.
The initiative kicked off with a multi-state campus tour, starting in Florida and making stops at 15 colleges and universities. The tour will include a special event at The University of South Carolina on February 25, 2025, as part of the WNBA on Campus Presented by Opill® event. This event will feature stand-up comedian and podcast host Hannah Berner, who has recently joined the team at Opill®.
Leila Bahbah, Perrigo U.S. Women's Health Brand Lead, emphasized the importance of educating people about reproductive health and contraception options. "It is more important now than ever to educate about reproductive health and contraception options," she said. "Opill® is committed to having those conversations and has brought together an amazing team to create a series of programs to help people understand their choices."

The Level The Court initiative was developed in response to the crucial need for reproductive health resources in communities where it is especially high. Through this partnership, Opill®, the WNBA, and BWHI aim to build confidence, strength, and health equity for Black women and girls. A dedicated webpage has been launched on WNBA.com with personal stories, answers to common reproductive health questions, and ways to access Opill® for low or no cost.
Zsanai Epps, Senior Director of Reproductive Health Initiatives at BWHI, highlighted the disproportionate barriers that Black women face when trying to access safe and effective reproductive health services. "For decades, Black women have disproportionately faced barriers to accessing safe and effective reproductive health services," she said. "One way this partnership will Level The Court is by establishing the BWHI Opill® Access Fund to provide a three-month supply of Opill® to Black women facing temporary challenges."
As part of the Level The Court initiative, the WNBA will also be hosting four events at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) throughout the spring. Colie Edison, Chief Growth Officer of the WNBA, expressed their commitment to supporting reproductive rights through this partnership. "It is important to the WNBA that we bring Level The Court to life," she said. "We look forward to having WNBA players engaging with the communities where they work and play as we continue to build our brand in line with a commitment to supporting reproductive rights."
