Oulton College $3 Million Expansion to Tackle Nursing Shortage in New Brunswick
S For Story/10663052
MONCTON, New Brunswick - s4story -- In response to New Brunswick's ongoing nursing shortage, Oulton College is investing $3 million to expand its Elmwood campus, creating a dedicated, state-of-the-art facility for health and nursing education.
The expansion will increase Oulton's nursing program capacity to over 400 students, providing hands-on training in newly renovated simulation labs and classrooms designed to mirror real healthcare settings. The project is set to be completed by January 2026.
"It was great to witness first-hand the work being done to expand the campus of Oulton College, said Jean-Claud D'Amours, Acting Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour. "Given the continued needs in the healthcare system, these upgrades are certainly welcome, and they will have a significant impact on the province's ability to train healthcare professionals. We are thankful that Oulton College recognizes the needs in nursing and continue to enhance education for that profession here in New Brunswick."
D'Amours made the comments after touring Oulton's new nursing and medical labs on June 20.
