Oulton College Celebrates 70 Years of Education, Opportunity, and Community Impact
S For Story/10706876
Alumni, community leaders, and industry partners come together in Moncton to recognize seven decades of preparing students for meaningful careers.
MONCTON, New Brunswick - s4story -- MONCTON, New Brunswick – Oulton College celebrated its 70th anniversary on Thursday, October 29, 2026, with a special event at its Flanders Court campus. Alumni, faculty, staff, employers, community partners and government representatives gathered to recognize the College's history and its contributions to career-focused education in New Brunswick.
Founded in 1956 by Gordon A. Oulton with approximately 80 students, the College has grown from a small institution into a provider of career-focused programs in health sciences, business, information technology and human services. Over seven decades, it has adapted its programs and learning environments to respond to the needs of students and employers.
"Seventy years is about much more than the history of a college. It's about the thousands of students who have walked through our doors, the careers they've built, and the difference they've made in their communities," said Darcie Reidpath, President of Oulton College. "We've grown and changed alongside New Brunswick, but our purpose has remained the same: giving people the skills, confidence, and opportunities to build a better future."

"I want to congratulate Oulton College on their 70th Anniversary," said Jean-Claude D'Amours, Minister of Post-Secondary Education and Training. "The college was started as a way to meet an urgent shortage of certain skills in the labour market. They continue to be an invaluable partner in these efforts as we work on meeting the same needs of New Brunswick today. Thank you for all you do to offer world-class career education right here in New Brunswick."
The event also honoured generations of alumni who have contributed to workplaces and communities across the province, as well as the employers and industry partners whose collaboration helps connect classroom learning with practical experience. Their involvement has been an important part of the College's approach to preparing graduates for their careers.
Recent developments reflect that ongoing focus. The College launched its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in 2024 and has continued investing in health sciences education and specialized learning facilities. These initiatives are part of its efforts to prepare graduates for changing workforce needs.
