Over 100 UK universities announce scholarships for international students for 2025 intake
S For Story/10647243
• International students benefit from increasing number of automatic scholarships • Limited number of fully funded scholarships now available • Scholarship Scanner lists all UK university-funded schemes for September 2025 admissions.
BIRMINGHAM, U.K. - s4story -- Over 100 UK universities have unveiled details of their scholarship offerings for international students enrolling in September 2025, according to new research conducted by Scholarship Scanner..
The study reveals that 102 UK universities have published postgraduate taught master's scholarship opportunities, while 88 universities are offering scholarships for undergraduate students.
However, fully funded scholarships remain limited. Currently, only six universities offer fully funded scholarships for undergraduate courses, while 12 universities provide similar funding for postgraduate programmes. Partial scholarships are more widely available, with seven universities offering 50% scholarships for undergraduates, and 14 universities advertising partial awards ranging from 50% to 90% for postgraduates. Additionally, some institutions set fixed scholarship values, which range between £500 and £25,000.

The full dataset, including eligibility criteria and application requirements, is now available on the Scholarship Scanner website. This resource highlights whether a scholarship requires a separate application or is awarded automatically.
For undergraduate scholarships, applicants can also determine whether the scholarship is available solely for the first year of study or extends throughout the entire duration of the degree programme. Some universities condition the continuation of scholarship payments in subsequent years on the achievement of specific grades at the end of each academic year. It's important for students to verify these requirements before applying.
Interestingly, the research highlights a growing trend of universities using scholarships as automatic discounts to attract specific groups of students. Approximately 68% of undergraduate scholarships and 64% of postgraduate scholarships are automatic, requiring no separate application. Conversely, 32% of undergraduate scholarships and 36% of postgraduate scholarships necessitate a dedicated application process.
Scholarship deadlines are also a critical consideration. Four undergraduate scholarships requiring applications have deadlines aligned with the UCAS application deadline at the end of January 2025.
In addition to the data, Scholarship Scanner provides practical advice for applicants on crafting winning scholarship applications.
