Planned PEThood of Georgia Steps Up to Support Families Affected by SNAP Cuts
S For Story/10677950
Making sure pets don't go hungry during this difficult time.
DULUTH, Ga. - s4story -- With SNAP benefits being reduced and more families feeling the strain, Gwinnett County moved quickly to support residents by sending additional food to six local food banks. Planned PEThood of Georgia has stepped in alongside them—making sure pets don't go hungry during this difficult time.
Extra supplies are now being delivered to the Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Duluth, North Gwinnett, and Southeast Gwinnett food banks, as well as Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries in Norcross. Each location provides assistance directly to residents in need. Families looking for support can reach out to their nearest food bank for help.
When Planned PEThood learned of these expanded efforts, the Duluth-based animal welfare nonprofit organization took swift action. They reached out to each of the food banks to offer free bags of Purina dry dog and cat food to supplement the human food assistance being provided. The food banks were excited to hear from them and confirmed the need for pet assistance.

Planned PEThood relies on the generosity of donors to provide services such as affordable veterinary care, low cost spay/neuter surgeries, rescue/adoption and community outreach. This special pet food donation, made possible through a generous contribution from The Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta is expected to help feed approximately 500 cats and dogs across Gwinnett County, just in time for the holiday season.
"Families struggling to feed themselves shouldn't have to choose between their own meals and their pets'," said CJ Bentley, CEO of Planned PEThood of Georgia. "We're proud to partner with Gwinnett's food banks to make sure no one, human or animal, goes hungry."
Your support makes this lifesaving work possible. With more families struggling to afford both their own food and their pets' care, every donation helps Planned PEThood provide nutritious pet food, affordable veterinary services, and a safety net for Georgia's most vulnerable pets. Join us in keeping pets healthy, fed, and with the families who love them. Visit https://pethoodga.org/give/#give-today to make a difference today.
