Pioneering Platforms Combine Strengths to Better Serve Aging Consumers, Families, and Professionals

RESTON, Va. - s4story -- Under this new coordination, the two pioneering organizations—both dedicated to serving older adults, caregivers, and professionals for over three decades—will collaborate closely while preserving their distinct brands and identities.

Steve Gurney, founder of the Positive Aging Community and Positive Aging SourceBook, will work in close partnership with Gordon Hasenei, who has acquired The Beacon Newspapers from founders Stuart and Judy Rosenthal and now serves as its publisher and CEO.

"This coordination between the Positive Aging Community and The Beacon Newspapers represents one of the most significant developments in media and resources for the 50+ audience in our region since both platforms were launched over 30 years ago," said Steve Gurney. "By combining our trusted expertise, comprehensive directories, engaging content, podcasts, live discussions, and print publications, we will deliver even greater value to consumers, families, and organizations navigating aging, senior living, caregiving, and longevity in Maryland, Virginia, D.C., Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and beyond."

"We are honored to join forces with Gordon Hasenei as he leads this next chapter. Together, we will expand access to meaningful, reliable resources and create new opportunities for engagement with the fastest-growing demographic in the Mid-Atlantic."

The collaboration will launch with exciting initiatives in 2026, including a refreshed design for The Beacon's monthly newspapers to attract both longtime readers and new audiences interested in positive aging.
