A respected force behind the scenes of Christian Hip Hop, Watson has built a career spanning music, business, artist development and Kingdom purpose. Alongside award-winning artist Derek Minor, he co-founded Reflection Music Group (RMG), helping grow the Nashville-based company into an influential presence within Christian music.

The company Watson helped build has generated millions of streams, Billboard-charting projects, nationwide tours and major industry showcases, including RMG's own showcase at SXSW. Watson's fingerprints, according to RMG, can be found on chart-topping releases and landmark industry events stretching from SXSW to Gospel Music Association weekend.

In 2019 alone, Reflection Music Group released more than 200 songs and amassed more than 80 million streams — a substantial footprint for an independent Christian music company.

Watson's work spans artist development, marketing, distribution, publishing, sync licensing, branding, royalty administration and music business strategy, creating opportunities for Christian artists at different stages of their careers.

His marketing acumen was demonstrated early in RMG's journey with Derek Minor's Redemption. Working with a marketing budget of just $500, Watson later shared that the project generated nearly $500,000 in revenue. Watson has used that experience to educate creatives about marketing, consumer behavior, ownership, publishing and financial literacy.

Through RMG and RMG Amplify, Watson has also helped expand the traditional independent-label model by creating pathways for artists to receive distribution and marketing support without necessarily entering a conventional label relationship.

His journey began long before RMG. Watson served 10 years in the United States Army, including service with the 101st Airborne Division, where he has credited the experience with teaching him discipline and the importance of execution. His road into the music industry later took him through production, independent music, events and radio before leading him into Christian Hip Hop and the partnership with Derek Minor that became Reflection Music Group.

Those radio roots add another connection to Watson's appearance at The SPIN Awards as the organization celebrates a decade of recognizing those committed to keeping the Gospel spinning across the airwaves.
