JONESBORO, Ark. - s4story -- Reyna Gentin's acclaimed middle grade novel My Name is Layla won gold in the Pre-Teen Fiction category of the 15^th annual Moonbeam Children's Book Awards, presented by the Jenkins group.

My Name is Layla is a coming-of-age story about self-acceptance, resilience, and empathy that deals with the difficulties of dyslexia and learning differences, embodying the Moonbeam Awards' stated purpose "to highlight books that encourage children to be generous, compassionate, and to stand up for the rights of themselves and others."

On the first day of eighth grade, thirteen year-old Layla has a pretty good idea of what's in store for her–another year of awkward social situations, mediocre grades, and teachers who praise her good behavior but find her academic performance disappointing.
