Rug Pads Are Usually One-Size-Fits-Most. A Georgia Company Just Changed That
S For Story/10699271
Dalton Rug Pad launches with a simple pitch: tell us your rug's dimensions, and the pad ships cut to fit — no trimming required
DALTON, Ga. - s4story -- Anyone who has bought an area rug knows the follow-up problem: finding a rug pad that actually matches its size. Off-the-shelf pads come in a limited set of standard dimensions, which means most rugs end up either sitting on a pad that's too small, too large, or trimmed down by hand. Dalton Rug Pad, a new company out of Dalton, Georgia, is going after that gap directly, and has launched an online store at daltonrugpad.com built entirely around custom sizing.
The company cuts every pad to order based on the customer's exact rug dimensions, with each pad sized about an inch smaller than the rug on all sides — a standard the company says keeps pads from curling or showing at the edges. Customers select a thickness and material, enter their measurements, and the pad ships cut to spec at no added cost.

Dalton Rug Pad launches with eight pad options spanning felt, natural rubber, and felt-rubber combinations, covering use cases from thin runners under doors to thick cushioned pads for high-traffic rooms. All are made from post-industrial recycled fiber and natural rubber, free of PVC and adhesives, and certified under OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and CRI Green Label Plus for indoor air quality. Warranties across the lineup range from 10 years to a limited lifetime, depending on the product.
Jim Daniels, who owns Dalton Rug Pad, said the company built the site after years of watching the same problem play out at its sister business, flooring retailer Carpets in Dalton.
"Customers would spend real money on a rug, and then the pad underneath was an afterthought — whatever was closest to the right size on the shelf," Daniels said. "We're in the business of making floors work the way people actually want them to. A pad that doesn't fit the rug is the same problem as a rug that doesn't fit the room."

Dalton Rug Pad also runs a trade pricing program for designers, contractors, and retailers ordering pads on a recurring basis.
The company is based in Dalton, Georgia — a region long known within the flooring industry as the Carpet Capital of the World for its concentration of flooring manufacturing — and ships its custom-cut pads nationwide.
More information, including a sizing guide and a breakdown of pad materials, is available at daltonrugpad.com (https://daltonrugpad.com/).
