MADISON, Ala. - s4story -- Reader's Repose Press has released A Little Grace, a children's picture book by Tami Ullom about first-day-of-school jitters, friendship, and the ripple effect of kindness.

You know that roller-coaster-drop, butterflies-in-your-tummy feeling? Everybody gets that flip-flop flutter sometimes.

In A Little Grace, a young child arrives at school carrying all the uncertainty of a new beginning. The unfamiliar classroom, new faces, and first-day expectations make the moment feel overwhelming until a classmate named Grace offers one small act of kindness.

That simple gesture not only helps ease the child's fears but also broadens her world. The kindness Grace extends continues as the child discovers an opportunity to pass that same sense of welcome and compassion to someone else.

"Grace was inspired by a dear friend whose kindness has touched many lives, including mine," Ullom said. "Her gift for seeing others and loving them well became the heart of this story."

"First-day jitters can feel enormous to a child, even when the adults around them know everything will likely be okay," Ullom added. "I wanted to acknowledge that nervous, fluttery feeling while showing how one thoughtful gesture can help a child feel seen and less alone."

Rather than presenting kindness as something complicated or extraordinary, A Little Grace shows young readers that it can begin with a simple choice: noticing another person, offering reassurance, making room, or helping someone feel included.

The story also reminds readers that grace is not only something we receive. It grows each time we choose to share it.

With its relatable school setting, expressive illustrations, and reassuring message, A Little Grace is well suited for family reading, elementary classrooms, school libraries, counseling offices, and conversations about anxiety, empathy, friendship, and belonging.

The book offers children a comforting reminder for the start of a new school year: even the biggest first-day jitters can be eased by a little grace.

A Little Grace is available in paperback and hardcover on Amazon.
