Rune Ryberg's Death Save Hits Hard with a Raw, Neon-Soaked Coming-of-Age Story

S For Story/10677188
Graphic novel Death Save captures the chaos and heartbreak of adolescence in a 1990s pinball arcade, with no holds barred and no high score safe.

s4story -- ST. JOHN'S, NL, CANADA, — Black Panel Press is proud to announce the upcoming North American release of Death Save, a high-voltage graphic novel by acclaimed Danish artist Rune Ryberg, on August 17, 2026. Set in a washed-out 1990s suburb, Death Save is a gritty, emotionally charged story of teen misfits, arcade dreams, and the fragile boundary between freedom and fallout.

In a broken-down pinball arcade on the edge of nowhere, two teenage outsiders kill time with bad ideas, petty crimes, and the constant hum of flickering screens. But beneath the chaos and the jokes, one of them is starting to sink—and the other might be going down with him. What starts as a haze of adolescence and rebellion builds toward something sharper, stranger, and more dangerous than either of them can handle.

Drawn in Ryberg's signature vivid palette and loose, expressive style, Death Save is a visual and emotional gut-punch. Through long wordless sequences and flashes of dark humor, Ryberg captures the restlessness of youth and the ache of being left behind.
