New New York-based publisher announces inaugural title, distribution partnership ahead of inaugural July release
NEW YORK - s4story -- SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Oberfeld Press, a new independent publishing imprint focused on design, brand strategy, and systems thinking, has formally launched operations and announced its first title: The Brand Operating System: The Architecture of Trust, Authority, and Growth by Marc Stress. The book is scheduled for publication on July 15, 2025.
The imprint positions itself at the intersection of design practice and business strategy, with a stated focus on "precision over volume" and publishing works built to last. Oberfeld Press will distribute through Ingram, making titles available to booksellers, libraries, and institutions worldwide through standard trade channels.
"There's no shortage of business books, but there is a shortage of rigorous ones," said a spokesperson for Oberfeld Press. "We're building a catalog for practitioners who take their craft seriously — readers who recognize that the best thinking deserves the same attention to structure and presentation as the ideas themselves."

The Brand Operating System, the imprint's inaugural release, presents brand as foundational business infrastructure rather than a marketing exercise. The work draws on frameworks developed over two decades of practice to offer what the publisher describes as "a systematic approach to building trust, authority, and sustainable growth."
The imprint's name derives from the Swiss-German word for "upper field" — a reference to elevated ground and clearer perspective. The identity reflects a design philosophy rooted in modernist restraint and editorial discipline.
Oberfeld Press is an independent imprint based in New York.
