Chosen from thousands of indie titles and judged by a panel of librarians and booksellers, the Foreword INDIES Awards honor the very best in independent publishing and help exceptional books reach a wider audience of devoted readers.
NEW YORK - s4story -- Rigani Press is pleased to announce that Rushing Headlong: Health IT's Legacy and the Road to Responsible AI has been named a finalist in the 28th annual Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards, which recognize outstanding books from university and independent publishers nationwide.
As part of its ongoing mission to discover, review, and champion the very best in independent publishing, Foreword Magazine, Inc. honors titles that exemplify editorial excellence, innovation, and impact across a wide range of genres. Finalists represent the top books published in 2025, selected through a highly competitive review process.
The complete list of finalists is available at: https://www.forewordreviews.com/awards/finalists/2025/
"This year's finalist judging process leaves us buoyant about the health of independent publishing," says Executive Editor Matt Sutherland. "From Self-Help titles to Business, Poetry to Juvenile Nonfiction, we have never seen such a remarkable collection of submissions. With the competition so tight, the 2025 finalists should feel immensely proud."

"'Rushing Headlong' shows how decades of health IT decisions brought us to this pivotal moment for AI in healthcare—and what it will take to move forward responsibly," said a representative from Rigani Press. "We're thrilled that it's being recognized not only for the strength of its writing and message, but for how it offers a clear framework for responsible AI that centers ethics, equity, and real-world patient impact, reminding us that who designs the tools matters. We hope it continues to reach readers beyond the healthcare sector, equipping more people to ask better questions, demand accountable systems, and ensure innovation serves human dignity during this consequential transformation in modern medicine."
Winners in each genre, along with Editor's Choice Prize winners and Foreword's Indie Publisher of the Year, will be announced in June 2026.
