FORT MYERS, Fla. - s4story -- SBDAC Unveils "Emotions of Everyday Life" by Artist Likened to Banksy, Opening July 3
FORT MYERS, FL. — The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center (SBDAC) opens The Emotions of Everyday Life, a solo exhibition by mixed-media artist James Massacci, in the Capital Gallery from July 3 through July 30, 2026. The opening reception on July 3 coincides with the Downtown Fort Myers Art Walk and the city's America 250th celebration, drawing visitors and collectors from across Southwest Florida for a milestone summer of cultural programming.
Massacci's work, which has appeared on NBC, ABC, and CBS, uses painting, collage, and mixed-media assemblage to explore identity, nostalgia, and the emotional undercurrents of American life. Critics and audiences have drawn comparisons to Banksy and Mr. Brainwash for his use of bold visual language to provoke public conversation — though Massacci's focus stays trained on emotional interiority rather than street-level provocation.

"I take society in and then simmer it to concentrate," Massacci says of his creative process. "If art imitates life, you can consider my show a mirror."
The exhibition blends vintage imagery with contemporary culture, inviting audiences to examine not just what they see, but how and why they see it — a hallmark of the visual confrontation that has defined Massacci's national media coverage to date.
