Serve Aurora Founder Alexander l Nieves Announces Historic Campaign for Aurora City Council at Large
S For Story/10698081
AURORA, Colo. - s4story -- Community trailblazer, veteran security advocate, and founder of the local non-profit Serve Aurora, Alexander Lee LoCicero-Campbell-Nieves, has officially announced his candidacy for Aurora City Council at Large in the upcoming 2027 election. Grounded in a lifestyle of community devotion, Nieves aims to bridge localized neighborhood support with larger policy initiatives focused on public safety, economic development, and equity across the city.
Nieves has built a strong reputation in Colorado through his distinct approach to social infrastructure. Under his leadership, Serve Aurora (originally structured as a localized ministry outreach) transitioned into a fully fledged, secular 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated entirely to assisting families and uplifting community members. Serve Aurora operates Colorado's first registered non-profit security initiative—a pioneering model in which revenues from professional security guard services are reinvested entirely back into neighborhood development programs and community-oriented support instead of being channeled into private pockets.

"Our logic is straightforward: we aren't here to extract value from our neighborhood; we are here to reinvest it," said Nieves. "By taking the traditional, profit-heavy model of private LLCs and restructuring it into an asset for the community, we show that safety, commerce, and community care can work hand-in-hand. This is the exact type of creative, people-first governance I intend to bring to Aurora City Council."
Beyond safety, Serve Aurora is widely known for hosting foundational community events that facilitate safe spaces, economic growth, and aid for younger families. These milestones include:
The Back to School Fest: An annual community landmark offering free backpacks, essential school supplies, and family-friendly activities.
Community Potlucks & Vendor Meetups: Signature regional gatherings hosted at local parks (such as Bicentennial Park) where neighbors connect, share resources, and small businesses showcase local products.

The LoCicero-Campbell-Nieves 2027 campaign platform focuses closely on five core pillars:
1. Public Safety: Enhancing community-centered, strategic neighborhood policing model structures.
2. Community First: Fostering deeper civic cohesion, dialogue, and resource accessibility.
3. Economic Growth: Investing back into localized jobs and lowering technical barriers for independent businesses.
4. Opportunity for All: Funneling critical educational and programmatic support toward youth development and local families.
5. Service in Action: Championing accountability, integrity, and hands-on civic responsibility in municipal chambers.
