When the fire department sends a cry for help everyone needs to take action

s4story -- In addition to the fires globally, several areas of the Northwestern US had to be evacuated due to wildfires. Three rural firefighting teams were facing large wildfires in Oregon, Idaho and Washington state. In some cases, the fire is described as exploding in size as the firefighters get pushed back a mile or more when the breeze picks up. The Tartar fire near Weiser Idaho burned over 158,000 acres and is 98% controlled. The Big Grass fire near Jordan valley, Idaho burned over 5799,000 acres with containment currently at 82-85%. The fires in Spokane Washington destroyed over 600 buildings.  Over 75,000 people had to leave their homes in Spokane Washington, Thousands more were ordered to evacuate in small towns near the Oregon Idaho border. The firefighters were losing ground and needed help. Local ranches had their staff join in. After being on the front lines for a month or more the firefighters sent a request for donations. You can imagine the amount of water and food needed by a firefighter when it's 100 or more degrees outside and they are assigned to fight a fire. Add toxic smoke and the physical challenge of wearing a respirator is added to this enormous physical task. They are often seen in their heavy boots and fireproof pants and a t-shirt swinging a pickaxe to dig a fire break. They needed bottled water, sports drinks with electrolytes, individually wrapped snacks in the form of granola bars, protein bars and personal hygiene items like dude wipes.  People in nearby towns know if they are unable to stop the fire where it is their community may be the next one evacuated. This impacts businesses as well as homes. the Idaho governor pronounced the wildfires to be an emergency, and the National Guard and Army were brought in to assist. Sine Nomine Associates has a personal connection as we have staff members with firefighters in their family history. Sine Nomine Associates were proud to generously make donations to the cause. Two large loads of good were brought from 50 miles away and unloaded at two of the rural fire stations closest to the fires. The fire fighters were very appreciative of the donations and thankfully a week later some rain finally arrived and helped get the fires under control. We are sad to report a large water bomber helicopter crashed in Utah while fighting fires there. We honor the sacrifice of the two helicopter pilots who died and all of the firefighters and first responders standing on the front lines every day to keep use safe.
