The book centers around a pre-teen facing the death of his parents. The teen, Cale, quickly finds adventure and new friends and foes thanks to the discovery of a talking sword.

"Young adults have a new concept in a book but the author has still found a way to introduce some of the common themes of life and he helps to nudge the reader's moral compass.
