ATLANTA - s4story -- Grammy-recognized blues artist Stevie Hawkins, an Alabama Blues Hall of Fame Legendary Blues Artist inductee, has been honored with two top awards at the 2026 InterContinental Music Awards (ICMA):

• Best of North America – Blues Artist for his original composition "Wind Fly South"
• Best Vocalist, Cover Song for his rendition of Leon Russell's classic "A Song For You"

Hawkins expressed his sincere thanks to the ICMA judges and the InterContinental Music Awards for these honors and for recognizing his work among an international field of artists.

"When I wrote Wind Fly South, I was simply telling a story through the lens of the blues—with heart, soul, and truth," he said. "To have it honored alongside global talent is humbling. This award belongs to every fan, collaborator, and friend who's walked this musical journey with me."

For "A Song For You," Hawkins reimagines Leon Russell's timeless ballad with his signature emotive style. Originally recorded in 1970, the song has been covered by more than 200 artists.

"Leon Russell's music has always been a masterclass in emotional honesty," Hawkins said. "Reinterpreting A Song For You was my way of paying tribute to a legend while adding my own voice to this legacy."

The Los Angeles-based InterContinental Music Awards recognize musical excellence through a continental and cultural framework, with submissions judged by music and industry professionals on qualities including musicality, originality, performance, and artistic impact. The 2026 competition drew submissions from artists representing more than 100 countries. The awards ceremony was held online on August 23.

"Wind Fly South" has also earned Best Blues Song honors at the 2026 European International Music Awards and the 2026 Hollywood Independent Music Awards. Hawkins is currently nominated for Best Blues Artist in the 2026 Indie Music Channel Awards.
