STL Holocaust Museum to Host Day of Remembrance Program on Japanese American Incarceration

S For Story/10684821
ST. LOUIS - s4story -- The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum will host a special Day of Remembrance program on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 1:00–2:30 p.m. in the Museum Auditorium. The event is presented in connection with the Museum's special exhibition, Resilience: A Sansei Sense of Legacy.

February 19 marks the anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's signing of Executive Order 9066 in 1942, which led to the forced removal and incarceration of more than 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry during World War II. In observance of this historic date, the Museum, in partnership with the Japanese American Citizens League, will present a powerful conversation exploring this history and its lasting legacy.

The program will feature author Tracy Slater and Japanese American internment descendant Robin Hattori in discussion of Slater's book, Together in Manzanar: The True Story of a Japanese Jewish Family in an American Concentration Camp. The book recounts the story of a Japanese Jewish family imprisoned at Manzanar, illuminating themes of identity, resilience, and belonging in the face of injustice.
