Summer Theatre Workshops Available Now
S For Story/10694701
STURGEON BAY, Wis. - s4story -- Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) announces its summer and fall theatre workshops led by Dan Klarer, Community Engagement and Education Coordinator at TAP.
Workshops will be available this summer for youth ages eight to twelve held July 13 - 16 and teens ages thirteen to seventeen on July 27 - 30. All workshops are offered on a pay-what-you-will basis thanks to generous support from Bader Philanthropies and private donors.
Workshops this summer will be held at TAP from 9am-12pm Monday through Thursday. Each day will be a mix of improv and theater games plus acting exercises with emphasis on creating your own mini play! No prior acting experience necessary. Each week-long session is limited to a maximum of 12 participants; suggested price of $150.
Adult Theatre Workshop Returns This Fall
Adult workshops will be held on Mondays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. running for six weeks starting September 28th. Following the six week session, theatre workshops will continue starting November 2 on a drop-in basis. These workshops will be focused on scene study and monologue preparation. Each day will begin with improv and theater exercises followed by acting technique and character development for scene work. The six-week session has a suggested value of $150 and drop-in classes are a $25 value per week.

Instructor, Dan Klarer, brings two decades of experience to these workshops. He recently spent time as an interim lecturer of acting at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, teaching movement, voice, scene study, and acting for camera. His full background in the performing arts gives him a unique perspective and he has brought that with him to our wonderful community here in Sturgeon Bay and greater Door County.
Thanks to the generous support of Bader Philanthropies, TAP is able to offer significant financial assistance to ensure these classes are accessible to participants of all income levels. This funding allows TAP to provide partial to full scholarships, removing financial barriers to participation.
"Support from Bader Philanthropies makes it possible for anyone—regardless of financial capacity—to take classes with us," said Jacob Janssen, Jackie & Steve Kane Artistic Director. "We believe theatre should be welcoming and accessible at every stage of life, and this support allows us to live that value in a very real way."
