May 23 giveaway honors veterans heading into America's 250th birthday

NAPLES, Fla. - s4story -- Sunshine Ace Hardware stores are honoring U.S. veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice by distributing free American flags on Saturday, May 23.

The first 240 customers at each Sunshine Ace Hardware location in Southwest Florida will receive a free 8" by 12" American flag. A purchase is not required. There is a limit of one flag per customer.

"Sunshine Ace Hardware has supported veterans and the military since the company was founded in 1958," said Michael Wynn, president of Sunshine Ace Hardware. "With this being America's 250th birthday, we're hoping that distributing American flags to the community will increase patriotism while also honoring veterans who gave their lives to protect America's freedoms."

Nationwide, Ace Hardware stores will distribute 1 million American flags over Memorial Day weekend. The company also provides an equal number of American flags to local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts to place on veterans' graves.
