Entries from around the world vied for top spot to craft the most inspirational, song, lyric and music video.
TORONTO - s4story -- The International Songwriters Day song contest announced its winners on April 9, International Songwriters Day. The contest runs annually from Dec. 1 to April 2. It celebrates the national day as well as holds a talent contest.
The contest is open to songwriters, lyricists and music video makers who create "inspirational" works. Winners hailed from all over, including Norway, Taiwan, Austria, UK, New Zealand, Canada, Sweden and the US.
Song topics ranged from John Martin's "Second Chances" about finding the will to recover from a dangerous crash to Elizabeth Berliner's "Guardian Angels" to 93 yr old Shirley Lazareth's calling on a higher power in her lyric "Do You Hear Me Lord"?
Music industry judges included Mike Gormley, Martin Isherwood, Brent Backhus, David Eaton and Diana Williamson. Sponsors who offered prizes included AirPlay Direct, Broadjam, The Music Registry and the Guitar Center Music Foundation.
