TIGARD, Ore. - s4story -- Tigard-area families are invited to step into a high-stakes animal adventure as Oregon author Carolyn McBee brings her children's book, Hoodwinked: A Deer Mouse Tale of Courage, to life during an interactive storytime and book signing event on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Bridgeport, 7227 SW Bridgeport Rd., Tigard, Oregon.
In Hoodwinked, young readers follow Clarence, a small deer mouse unexpectedly carried far from home, who must navigate unfamiliar environments and evade danger on his journey back. Set across Oregon landscapes, the story introduces children to wildlife, survival, and the power of perseverance through a fast-moving, suspenseful adventure.

A lifelong Oregonian, McBee draws directly from the region's landscapes and ecosystems to shape the story's world. With a background in forestry and a 32-year career as an educator, she brings both authenticity and heart to her work, creating stories that reflect the natural beauty of Oregon while encouraging curiosity, courage, and connection.
The April 11th event is designed as an interactive experience for children. During the first hour, McBee will bring Clarence's journey to life through an engaging storytime. The second hour offers families the chance to meet the author, ask questions, and take home signed copies.
