Tips to Help Struggling Learners
S For Story/10504678
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - s4story -- The nation focused on Moment of Frustration Day on October 12th and LearningRx, the world's largest personal brain training company, is sharing tips to help parents of struggling learners overcome their academic frustrations. These moments can happen at any time.
1. Remind your student that even smart kids can have a learning struggle.
Many struggling learners have higher-than-average IQ scores. That's because IQ assessments measure an average of the combined strength of all our cognitive skills (e.g., attention, visual and auditory processing, memory, processing speed, logic & reasoning). So, if all the skills are strong except one, the high IQ may be masking a weak but important cognitive skill.
2. Remind your student that it's not his/her fault that they're struggling.
Learning struggles can create feelings of inadequacy, worries about being held back a grade or fears of not getting into a good college. While some parents assume that less-than-stellar grades are a reflection of laziness, lack of intelligence, or not enough time spent studying, these assumptions are almost always untrue.

3. Get a Brain Skills Assessment.
The Brain Skills Assessment [https://www.learningrx.com/get-started/] will help you pinpoint which weak cognitive skills are making learning harder than it needs to be. The results can be used to design a personal brain training program to target and strengthen those weak skills to make learning easier and faster in any subject.
About LearningRx®
LearningRx, is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the largest one-on-one brain training company in the world. Our Fort Collins Brain Training Center is located off Harmony in Fort Collins. Training programs are delivered through more than 200 locations in North America and in 48 countries around the globe (as BrainRx®). LearningRx has helped more than 100,000 individuals and families sharpen their cognitive skills to help them think faster, learn easier, and perform better. In addition to their in-Center training programs that partner every client with a personal brain trainer to keep clients engaged, accountable, and on-task—a key advantage over digital brain games—the company also offers online training through real-time videoconferencing. LearningRx's pioneering methods have been used in clinical settings for over 35 years and have been subjected to peer-review in more than a dozen scientific journals.
