Total Sovereignty Awareness (TSA) Launches in Accra Metro

S For Story/10685411
New curriculum teaches Nkrumah, Sankara, and economic sovereignty to Ghanaian students

TORONTO - s4story -- A new Pan‑African educational initiative called Total Sovereignty Awareness (TSA) has launched in Accra Metro, offering teachers a ready‑to‑use classroom curriculum centred on African thinkers and decolonised history.

TSA Lesson 1, titled "The Bullet in Ghana's Skull," uses Kwame Nkrumah's historic 1963 Addis Ababa speech as an anchor exhibit. Teachers guide students through a 45‑minute exercise exploring the mechanisms of neocolonialism, coup culture, and economic dependency.

"For decades, African students have learned European history while their own giants—Nkrumah, Sankara, Nyerere—remain footnotes," said the TSA Program Director. "TSA gives teachers the tools to change that. It's not about heavy reporting; it's about building a community of educators practicing sovereignty awareness."

The programme is deliberately lightweight. Teachers who apply to become TSA Lead Teachers simply run Lesson 1 once and submit a short reflection – one sentence a student said and three lines on what worked. Photos and formal evidence are optional.
