Over 25 Ukulele Clubs Play for Peace and Love In Communities
HEALDSBURG, Calif. - s4story -- Ukes4Peace Grassroots Movement Brings Community Together Through Music
Healdsburg, CA — [March 30, 2026] — A growing grassroots music movement started in Healdsburg is striking a chord across Northern California. Ukes4Peace, a collaborative effort among more than two dozen ukulele clubs, is inviting ukulele players to come together in a series of informal "uke jam" events designed to promote peace, harmony, and connection through music, in reaction to the divisive political environment.
Founded on a simple idea—that playing music together can foster unity and goodwill—Ukes4Peace has quickly expanded to include 26 participating ukulele clubs in Northern California (from the Humboldt in the far north to Santa Cruz and Kern River). At the heart of each event is a shared songbook, created in by the club leaders, that allows players of all levels to join in to sing songs with themes of love, peace and harmony. Examples of songs are "Peace Train," "Imagine", "Everyday People," "Get Together" and "All You Need is Love."

The first Ukes4Peace event on March 14th in Vallejo – hosted by the Ukulele Lovers of Vallejo – drew 77 ukulele players. The club usually draws 40-50 participants to a typical jam.
"These are supportive gatherings of ukulele players that sing their hearts out to promote love, goodwill and peace, " said Rachelle Chong, the Ukes4Peace founder and coleader of the Healdsburg Ukulele Club. "We feel compelled to counteract divisiveness in our society. What better way than to sing together and take a stand as one? A side benefit is that uke club members are taking it a step further to sing in the community at peace marches."
Upcoming Ukes4Peace events include:
Hosted by the Healdsburg Ukulele Club.
Windchaser Wine Co., Richmond
Hosted by RUM.
Hosted by the Ukulele Ramblers ($5 voluntary donation). RSVP to funkgypsy@gmail.com.
San Carlos Library, San Carlos
