One Circus Harmony program that they use to do Tikkun Olam and fulfill their mission is Peace Through Pyramids which brings together children from different countries, cultures, neighborhoods, and backgrounds to show them that their race, religion, and socio-economic background doesn't matter, what matters is what YOU bring to the ring.
In the book, Ms. Hentoff also acknowledges her Jewish family heritage, being the daughter of esteemed writer, Jewish atheist, and social activist, Nat Hentoff. She credits him with her social justice awareness and life direction.
Chapters in Under One Tent discuss the history of juggling, Jews under national socialism in Germany, Jewish circus history and a variety of other topics. Since it was published in March, it has been number one in new circus book releases on Amazon!
In Under One Tent, Jessica tells a Talmudic story about a Rabbi who asks the prophet Elijah if anybody in a marketplace would have a share in the World to Come. At first, there was no one in the marketplace who seemed to fit the description, until two men entered and Elijah said, "Those two would have a place." When the rabbi asked them their occupation, they replied "We are clowns, when we see someone who is sad we cheer them up, when we see two people quarreling, we try to make peace between them."
