Valley Toyota Dealers & The Taco Spot support families at Copa Univision amid rising temperatures
S For Story/10694734
More than 1,000 people attended the soccer tournament, where meals and cooling resources helped attendees beat the heat.
GLENDALE, Ariz. - s4story -- More than 1,000 people, including approximately 900 youth athletes, gathered at the West Valley Events Complex on Saturday, May 23, for Copa Univision Arizona. To help families stay comfortable during triple-digit temperatures, Valley Toyota Dealers partnered with Arizona-based restaurant The Taco Spot to provide 1,000 tacos and sponsor the tournament's only onsite misting cooling system.
As temperatures continue to rise across Arizona, access to cooling resources at outdoor community events is becoming increasingly important, particularly at youth sports tournaments that serve as gathering spaces for Hispanic families. The designated cooling area gave attendees, families and young athletes a place to cool down and recharge between matches throughout the day.
"Food has always been a way people connect, especially within Hispanic communities," said Raul Martinez, Director of Marketing at The Taco Spot. "Providing tacos at Copa Univision Arizona was a meaningful way to help families enjoy the tournament and spend time together during a long day in the heat."

For many families, tournaments like Copa Univision Arizona are more than sporting events, they're all day gatherings centered around youth sports, food and shared culture. With families often spending an entire day at the fields, expenses can quickly add up between meals, drinks and other necessities, especially during the summer months. Cooling resources and meal support help address both the financial burden and heat-related safety concerns families may face while attending outdoor events.
"Copa Univision Arizona is a strong example of how community partners can show up in a meaningful way for the families we serve," said Kamal Charef, President of the Valley Toyota Dealers Association. "Whether it was providing food or a place to cool off, the goal is to help everyone stay comfortable and enjoy the tournament safely."
